Evaluation
My role for unit 9 was to create anything I wanted that was media related, for example I could of done an intro, an advert, a film etc. What I decided to do was a short 4-5 minute film. I decided I wanted to do a slapstick comedy about a boy who tries to attempt home workout exercises in his messy room but realizes that's no the only challenge he has to overcome. We had to create 5 pages which was production, planning, research, idea and evaluation.
For my idea page I posted my fmp PowerPoint which we had to present in class, I was given feedback by my lecturer and fellow classmates. They suggested some slapstick comedy's I could look at. I then took there advice onboard and started looking at Charlie Chaplin, laurel and hardy etc, to get some idea's of what kind of stunts I could do which I wrote about in my idea page. I was also given positive feedback on my final project which most people said it was short, simple, funny and that I had good use of sound effects. I also put my proposal on my idea page which I wrote about what helped me on the last project to give me the information I needed to be able to film my own project. I use a lot of Charlie Chaplin stunts such as the trips and the hits to the head. Both Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy I have gotten ideas for my final product including the shot angles and the mannerisms of all of them. I chose the music because it was very fast paced and funny and went really well with my final project. The rocky reference was more for the younger audience anywhere from 12-17 would get the comedy I was going for because I wanted it to be funny for nearly all ages old and young.
On my planning page I put all of the forms I needed in order to record the project such as my risk assessment form, location recce, cast list, crew list, I also put my screenplay and survey results on there. From my survey results I gathered what majority of people watched or liked slapstick comedies and also got to know there favorite slapstick comedies so I went and researched into them a bit.
On my research page I researched into slapstick comedies. I did a modern vs old slapstick comedy analyses and also researched a lot into laurel and hardy and Charlie Chaplin. From this I gathered what kind of stunts and camera shots I could do. I analysed a laurel and hardy short film called busy bodies which I was able to pick up there characteristics, an example how they move or how they act in certain situations, so how they would get banged on the head and stumble for a while then fall, they would also fall over a lot to show how clumsy they are which influenced my idea to slip and fall a lot.
Finally on my production page is where I posted my final finished project which was just around 4 minutes long which wrote about how I filmed and edited it. I also posted pictures of my set up and a picture of my editing. From this project I was able to get more experience with the equipment and editing software which will be useful in future projects. I was very organised with this project there weren't any inconveniences so I was able to take the equipment home and film successfully, the only trouble I had was putting the camera on the tripod which I soon figured out.
Overall the project was very successful because it all went to plan and I was very organised, the target audience also found it funny and entertaining.

FORMATIVE : On your production page… explain how your research has influenced and developed your planning documents… creatively and technically. Also what demographics/target viewer are you aiming your piece at and where is this directly shown in your film’s development e.g. the edit?
ReplyDeleteConcentrate upon your production page… photos/QTs show and explain learning and application of film theory, context and characterization... You must write about your intertextuality as your piece has a great deal of this in action.
Be specific on this evaluation page... what stunts did you use from Chaplin? Ho whave you used Luarel and Hardy... also... how did you choose the music and why? e.g. Rocky reference?
